Tombak maestro Morteza Ayan returns to the stage after 25 years of silence to celebrate the art of the Tombak hand drum with the next generation of virtuoso musicians: Houshmand Ebadi on Ney reed flute and Siavash Imani on Tar lute and vocal.

Having performed alongside some of the finest Iranian master musicians over three decades at some of the world’s most prestigious venues, having created a unique style and technique of playing tombak and trained a number of the leading tombak players of today, Morteza Ayan took an unannounced leave of absence from the stage at the peak of his career.

It is a great joy to see the master back at work, thanks to the perseverance of many of his students.

It was delightful to hear of the recent publication of Maestro’s extensive tombak studies in three volumes.

It is an honour and a privilege for Nava Arts to be host to the legend on his first day back on stage after a twenty-five-year absence.
